As many of you know, William J. Bosch International House Scholarship stalled a few years ago when we learned that, since the demise of IH as an active campus organization, the scholarship was being awarded in ways inconsistent with our original intent as donors. When we pointed this out to to folks at LeMoyne, they were very apologetic and eager to work with us toward a solution. This got slowed down through a series of personnel changes at the college, but we're moving forward again now. Over the past six months Peter Kennedy & I have been working with Jim Seitz in Development (you met him if you were at Lakefest last year) and Kate Cogswell, the college's director of scholarship stewardship on a new scholarship agreement, and we will soon have a draft to circulate among the scholarship's donors for approval. The goal is to begin offering the scholarship again during the 2011-12 academic year, and to begin a new fund raising drive to increase the endowment.
Our purpose is to assure that, with or without an organization called "International House" on campus, IH's legacy and spirit will continue in concrete and tangible ways.
Stay tuned!
